Reed Group Featured in DataCare's RTW ROI Whitepaper

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/

Reed Group® MDGuidelines are featured in DataCare's latest whitepaper "Calculating Hard-Dollar Returns on Return-to-Work Case Management".  In today's competitive business climate, a managed care company must provide empirical data that supports its ability to control costs, increase efficiency, and increase the quality of care. The key metrics that the company can focus on are Return-to-Work (RTW) savings and related hard and soft savings. The latest whitepaper shows how to calculate net savings and RTW ROI.

Reed Group’s evidence-based recommendations provide a predicted disability duration (PDD) benchmark for each injured worker based on the injury, demographics, and co-morbidities. “Having quality evidence-based recommendations that inform the case manager of predicated disability durations is essential. We are committed to bringing our clients the most advanced tools that help them provide injured workers with timely and effective treatment,” said Jon Seymour, MD, Reed Group President.

According to Dr. Paulo Franca, President and Chief Technology Officer of DataCare Corporation, “DataCare’s integration with Reed Group is part of a growing trend to put easy-to-use predictive modeling tools in the hands of nurses and physicians. This will enable them to employ return-to-work guidelines that are more closely tailored for each patient based on factors such as age, job class, and the presence of additional (co-morbid) health conditions.”

Workers' Compensation Biggest Problem in Bill Review has been Solved by DataCare Four Years Ago

DataCare Customers Ahead of the Curve in Latest Survey of Workers’ Compensation Bill Review

The 2012 Survey of Workers’ Compensation Bill Review by Heath Care Associates (http://www.healthstrategyassoc.com/2012BillReviewSurvey.pdf ) reports that the single biggest problem for Workers’ Compensation Bill Review is “the need to better and more completely link medical management determinations to the actual payment and processing of medical bills”.

DataCare's customers have been using UR Enforcer® to identify bills for treatments that were denied or never had an authorization request. They report an additional 20% saving of medical cost over their regular bill review results. One customer saved nearly two million dollars in the first year alone! Results remain consistent until today, four years after the solution was put in place. The same client still saves twice as much every year on top of all the usual fee schedule reductions, PPO’s and contract rates.

DataCare developed UR Enforcer after listening to and working closely with our customers. They helped us to identify the gap between information in the Utilization Reviews and medical bills submitted for payment. This led us to develop our UR Enforcer solution: it connects your utilization review system with bill review  to minimize this leakage by automatically verifying medical bills line-by-line against treatment authorizations from utilization reviews and precertification. We integrate with major bill review vendors provided that the utilization review authorization codes are complete and accessible.
